A genomics research institute in the UK has been running Kbiosystems plate sealers, colony pickers and barcode applicators across multiple workflows for more than ten years. Over that period, equipment has been added, relocated, recommissioned for new protocols, and integrated with three generations of liquid handlers from other vendors. The same engineering team has supported the relationship throughout. Calls go to engineers who already know the lab, the systems and the people. New protocols are scoped in the same conversation as the support enquiry. There is no rediscovery cycle every time something changes, because the institutional knowledge sits on both sides of the partnership.
