The Ultravap Mistral XT150 is a blowdown evaporator designed to remove the traditional laboratory bottleneck of solvent evaporation from glass tubes. Where the standard Mistral accepts sample holders up to 60mm, the XT150 extends this to tubes up to 150mm high. Its flat front profile and platform shuttle enable greater interfacing with liquid-handling robots, and the platform shuttle can serve and retrieve plates from the deck of most liquid handlers.
Advanced head technology delivers consistent heated gas into each well, vial or tube at temperatures up to 80°C. The bulk of the sample remains at ambient temperature while only the surface is heated, making the system suitable for sensitive samples. The system is built to eliminate cross-contamination risk.
The Ultravap Mistral XT150 stores up to 15 programmable methods for different solvents or volumes. The sample carrier movement is programmable in 0.1mm increments with up to 5 distinct gradients per method, allowing faster initial drying followed by progressively slower rates. Gas temperature and flow rate are also programmable per method. Method modification is controlled by a password-protected administrative user level.
Multiple Mistral XT150 units can be connected in series via CAN bus, with any number of slave units controlled simultaneously from a single master unit. The master unit can also be operated over its built-in RS232 link, allowing remote programming and start/stop commands to be sent over a network. Station ID numbers can be set and stored for each unit.
The unit includes clear safety screens and integral fume management via a 4-inch duct adaptor with a built-in fan for high-speed fume removal. The platform shuttle is fitted with micro switches that detect obstructions and automatically stop the unit if triggered. Built-in LED lights provide sample visibility.
The Ultravap Mistral XT150 is designed and manufactured by Kbiosystems, part of Porvair Life Sciences. It carries UKCA and CE certification.
