The Ultravap Levante

The Ultravap Levante is a standalone programmable blowdown evaporator for consistent, reproducible solvent evaporation from microplate and tube/vial rack samples. It is designed to precisely fit all ANSI/SLAS standard microplate formats and tube/vial racks up to 45mm in height, and can be operated from a gas cylinder or an in-house supply of nitrogen or clean dry air. 

The Levante stores up to 5 programmable methods for different solvents or volumes. Carrier movement is programmable in 0.1mm increments with up to 3 distinct gradients per method, allowing faster initial drying followed by progressively slower rates as evaporation progresses. Gas temperature and flow rate are also programmable per method. The ability to modify stored methods is controlled by a password-protected administrative user level, ensuring only approved protocols are available to non-administrative users. 

The Levante is fitted with an RS232 connection and a remote command set, allowing it to be connected to and operated from a robot liquid handling station. The sample carrier is fitted with sensitive micro switches that detect obstructions and automatically stop the unit if triggered, protecting both the instrument and the robot. Eco mode and pause dry-down functions are included. 

Advanced gas injection technology delivers consistent gas into each well, vial or tube. The bulk of the sample remains at ambient temperature while only the surface is heated, making it suitable for sensitive samples. The system is built to eliminate cross-contamination risk. 

The Ultravap Levante is designed and manufactured by Kbiosystems, part of Porvair Life Sciences. It carries UKCA and CE certification.
