The Ultraseal ePRO (formerly the eSeal) is a fully electric, fully automatic microplate and tube rack sealer. With no compressed air required, it removes the risk of cross contamination inherent in pneumatically driven sealers.

Using a total inline method, the unit pulls aluminium or plastic sealing film through the mechanism, cuts it to length, and applies it under controlled heat and time parameters - delivering a consistent, reliable seal at up to 6 plates per minute.
The Ultraseal PRO is an automated heat-applied microplate and tube rack sealer for mid-to-high throughput laboratory use. The unit uses a roll of surface-modified aluminium or plastic sealing film approximately 78mm wide and 610m long, positioned to the rear of the sealing section on a removable stand. The film is pulled through using a total inline method, cut to between 125mm and 130mm in length, and applied to the plate top surface under heat and time-controlled parameters.
The Ultraseal PRO seals plates and tube racks up to 47mm base-to-top height, covering shallow and deep well formats, tube rack formats and custom mouldings. Compatible plate materials include polystyrene, polypropylene, and CoC and CoP formats, with a full range of film substrates available: aluminium foil seals, optical seals and gas permeable seals.
The unit is both pneumatically and electrically operated. An optional gas purge function applies a heavy gas coating to the well surface immediately before sealing, creating an oxygen-reduced or near oxygen-free headspace environment within the sealed plate. The Ultraseal PRO integrates directly with the Kbiosystems Scorpion plate handler and stacker via auto-link, and communicates with robotic and liquid handling systems via RS232 with a full API communication protocol supplied as standard.
Kbiosystems developed its first fully automated production sealer in 1994. The Ultraseal PRO is the current generation of that platform, designed and manufactured in-house at our facility in Basildon, Essex, as part of Porvair Life Sciences.
