The DT-24

The DT-24 is an automated PCR thermal cycler designed for medium and high throughput DNA replication and incubation on microwell format plates. It uses a three-tank water bath system to create the required temperatures for all steps of the PCR process, providing an alternative approach to Peltier heat transfer units that can prove costly when scaling throughput. 

The DT-24 incorporates a patented compression basket system that accepts 96-, 384- and 1536-well PCR plates without requiring a basket change or heater block modification between formats. Plate holders maintain pressure throughout cycling and, as a result, plates remain flat after cycling, improving post-PCR operations. The compression basket also supports the use of adhesive seals or easily removable seals for multiplex operations. 

The DT-24 is fully automated with PC control. Individual tank temperatures are set with full PID control, and individual programmable macros are stored on the PC. The system works with plate and tape based assays, and is compatible with plasticware from multiple manufacturers across applications. Both the DT-24 and the DT-108 have fully interchangeable drive to tank connections, allowing adaptation to other devices. 

The DT-24 requires both an electrical supply and a compressed air supply at the point of installation. It is designed and manufactured by Kbiosystems, part of Porvair Life Sciences, and carries UKCA and CE certification.
